Laser Therapy

Laser Therapy for Healing

At Acupet we use laser therapy for acupuncture and for treating specific conditions of the muscles, joints and tendons. Lasers are a very non-invasive and relatively quick treatment which animals tolerate very well. There are no reported side effects when used safely.

Laser therapy is used in the following conditions:

  • Pain management
  • Tendinitis
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Nerve repair
  • Intervertebral disc disease
  • Post-surgical pain management
  • Skin conditions: lick granulomas, pyodermas, otitis externa, fungal infections
  • Dental: stomatitis
  • Enhance fracture repair
  • Reduces oedema
  • To enhance wound repair e.g. burns, lacerations, poorly healing ulcers.

Benefits of Laser

The benefits of laser are huge and more knowledge about its effects and the number of conditions that can benefit from its application is growing annually. Results for management of acute pain are possible within 2 to 4 sessions, and within 1 to 7 sessions for chronic pain.

Laser treatment results in the following effects known as photobiomodulation:

  • Relieves pain
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Increases microcirculation (blood flow) to tissues resulting in acceleration in tissue repair and wound healing
  • Reduced scar tissue formation
  • Enhances immune support in tissues treated.

Laser for maintenance of pain is given once monthly after an initial course of treatment.

I was recommended to take my old girl Kiera to Acupet by a colleague.
That was a huge blessing as my dog would not be walking (and possibly put down) if it wasn’t for her acupuncture sessions, lazer and herbal medicine. For a 15 year old she is now thriving.
The results she has been receiving makes me realise you should never write off a pet just because they are old. Humans have the ability to support their elderly dogs and cats with natural treatments, that have them pain free and living their best lives.
Kym is a highly skilled, knowledgeable, professional vet who has our pets health as her top interest

Kombi has improved in leaps and bounds literally! She got thrown a bad combination of hip dysplasia and then an immune disorder and was spiraling down hill fast. After just the first session of laser therapy with Kym we saw a huge improvement. Now a couple of sessions in and we can’t keep her still for long she has so much energy! Thank you so much Kym you have been a God send. Kombi loves her visits and we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.”

I have been taking my boy Frankie to Acupet for pet acupuncture and rehab since his surgery for IVDD January 2023. Kym’s knowledge and care is second to none, she looks at his overall health and wellbeing and helps you to form a plan of action. Frankie has had acupuncture, laser therapy and we have had multiple herbal medicines to assist his journey. He’s making great progress and this would not have been possible without Kym! Frankie and I love our sessions with you and I couldn’t recommend Acupet more highly!
